What components make up a crypto exchange like Binance?
- Order matching engine (order book, limit/market orders)
- Spot trading screen, charts and order book
- Wallet infrastructure: hot/cold wallets, deposits and withdrawals
- KYC: ID, selfie and address verification
- AML: suspicious transaction rules and reporting
- TL deposits/withdrawals and bank integration
- Liquidity: connections to external exchanges and market makers
- Admin panel: user, limit, fee and coin management
- Mobile app (iOS/Android) and push notifications
- Security: 2FA, withdrawal approval, IP restrictions, audit log
Order matching and trading engine
The heart of an exchange is the engine that matches buy and sell orders by price-time priority. Limit, market and stop orders, partial fills, fee tiers and the real-time order book feed (WebSocket) all run in this layer. Match results are written to balances atomically; the locking and ledger structure that prevents the same balance from being spent twice is designed from the start.
On the user side, the live chart, order book, recent trades and open orders screens are fed by the same API on both web and mobile.
Wallet infrastructure and security
User balances are kept in the exchange's internal ledger; on-chain assets are split between a hot wallet (daily withdrawals) and a cold wallet (reserves). Deposit addresses are generated per user and credited to the balance after the required number of chain confirmations; withdrawals go through limit, approval and, where needed, multi-signature steps. 2FA, withdrawal address whitelisting, IP and device checks, and an audit log of all admin actions are standard.
Legal framework: SPK authorization, MASAK and KYC
Operating a crypto asset trading platform in Turkey requires an operating license from the Capital Markets Board (SPK) under Law No. 7518 and compliance with MASAK (Financial Crimes Investigation Board) obligations. On the software side, this means identity verification (KYC), transaction monitoring and suspicious transaction reporting (AML), record retention and audit-ready reporting. You will need to work with a specialist lawyer on the legal process; I build the software with record-keeping and reporting infrastructure that meets these obligations.
Build from scratch or use a ready-made platform?
Ready-made (white label) exchange packages get you started quickly, but flexibility in fee models, coin listings, payments and reporting is limited, and the source code often doesn't belong to you. With custom development, every layer is built to your needs and the code is handed over to you. For a fast start, a first version with spot trading + TL deposits/withdrawals + KYC is released, followed by the mobile app, P2P and other products.
If you'd rather start with integration before launching an exchange, see the crypto exchange API integration page.

Frequently asked questions
What do you need to launch a crypto exchange?
Software infrastructure (matching engine, wallets, KYC/AML, admin panel), bank and liquidity connections, and—to operate in Turkey—SPK authorization under Law No. 7518 plus compliance with MASAK obligations.
Can you build exchange software like Binance?
Yes; it starts with core modules such as spot trading, order book, wallets, KYC and a mobile app, with products like futures and P2P added in later phases.
How long does it take to build crypto exchange software?
It depends on the scope; the first version, consisting of spot trading, TL deposits/withdrawals and KYC, is developed with phased delivery. After an initial meeting, a module-by-module timeline and quote are provided.
White label exchange or custom software?
White label gets you started quickly, but flexibility and code ownership are limited. With custom software, every layer is built for you and the source code is handed over to you.
How is liquidity provided?
Initially, order book depth is provided by connecting to external exchanges via API; this is supported by market maker bots and institutional liquidity providers.
How is exchange security ensured?
With reserves in cold wallets, approved and limited withdrawals, 2FA, IP/device checks, an audit log of admin actions and regular security testing.
Do you build the mobile app too?
Yes; iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin) exchange apps are developed on the same API.
