What enterprise mobile app development must include
- Offline operation: records stored on the device, synced when a connection returns
- Verified records: photo, signature, location and timestamp
- Barcode and QR: via camera or handheld terminal scanner
- Role-based access: everyone sees only their own work, and who did what is logged
- Integration: data transfer to ERP, SAP, CRM and accounting systems
- In-house distribution: installation on company devices without going through the store
- Older device support: works on the various phone and terminal models in the field
Which processes move to mobile?
Warehouse counting and goods receipt, field service and maintenance forms, security patrols and inspections, sales rep orders and collections, vehicle and fleet management, station tracking in production, staff check-in/check-out and PPE assignment records. Each one replaces a paper form with a flow whose data reaches headquarters instantly.
Examples from my enterprise projects
Warehouse: an Android stock counting app running on Chainway handheld terminals (Forbest). Security: a QR-based guard tour control and patrol tracking system. Fleet: live dispatch with passenger, driver and fleet apps. Production: a production tracking system in İnegöl with QR-based station tracking. Kiosk: a touchscreen dispensing screen at Brisa that works with employee cards. Plus mobile and web projects requiring SAP integration.
In-house or in the store?
Apps used only by employees can be installed on company devices through in-house distribution without being published to a store; this is fast and avoids the store review process. Apps used by customers and dealers are published on the App Store and Google Play; the store publishing process is included in the project.
