What a canteen needs: many sales in little time
Break time is 10 minutes; every second at the till counts. Items like toasties, tea and water are sold with quick sale keys, and packaged goods by barcode. To cut time spent waiting for change, prepaid card payment can be set up.
Prepaid card payment and limits
A balance is loaded onto the student or staff card; when the card is scanned, the amount is deducted from the balance. Daily spending limits, restricted products and spending reports for parents or HR can be added. This setup uses the same staff card, limit and period logic I use in the card-based vending system I developed for Brisa.
Factory canteens and food vending machines
In factories, canteen sales can be made with staff cards and reported by cost centre and department for payroll deduction. Card-based vending machines can be connected to the same system for sales when the canteen is closed.
